It's the Sum of 3/4 of the Year

My dear friends march home along the Jersey Shore.

It was a frequent winter thought
that I might wish to migrate,
But truly spring and summer are nothing if not a rebirth. As a mere constant
I don't think I could love them nearly so much.
I have never felt so alive, it seems, and this is not the first time I have felt this way, so paradoxically novel.
The sun bearing down with renewed vigor bakes my skin with confidence,
While the flowers, reawakening, exhale life into my lungs like a happy factory.

Surrounded by people I hold so dear, I cannot help but smile like the glowing sun, like the plants and birds,
Summer is oh so happy a time and I would not give up winter and deny this annual feeling
For any persistent summery weather; not ever.
